PhD Position in the Laboratory for Ion Beam Interactions, Ruđer Bošković Institute
A PhD position is open in the Laboratory for Ion Beam Interactions at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb, Croatia. The position is funded by the Croatian Science Foundation for work on the project “Sequential molecular and elemental imaging using MeV SIMS and other IBA techniques”.
The research will focus on combining ion beam analysis methods on the heavy ion microprobe—such as Particle-Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) and Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) for elemental mapping—with MeV Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (MeV SIMS), which provides molecular information, in order to obtain complete, correlated data on both the elemental and molecular composition of samples.
The position is offered for a duration of five years. Selected candidates will be required to enroll in doctoral studies at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics.
Candidate requirements:
MSc in Physics (or equivalent)
Strong motivation for experimental research, with a curious and open mind
We offer:
A stimulating academic environment with PhD students and postdoctoral fellows
Access to state-of-the-art experimental equipment for scientific research
