1st Call for Staff Exchanges within the RIANA Project

Objective

The primary objective of these staff exchanges is to improve the experimental skills and competencies of Junior Scientists and young scientists of the RIANA networks by exposing them to different research environments and challenges within the RIANA consortium. This initiative is designed to enable better handling of inter-network user proposals, which are integral to the success of RIANA.

Eligibility

• Junior Scientists and young scientists performing similar tasks affiliated with any of RIANA’s partners.
• Applicants must choose a host facility outside their current network.
• Only one applicant per facility is eligible to apply for this program.
• The applicant must not be a user at the target facility at the time of submission.

Program Details

• Duration: Each exchange visit will last approximately one week.
• Funding: A budget of up to 1,000 € is allocated for each visit to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
• Budget: 23,000 € are available for short-term visits until month 36 of the project.

Application Process

Interested scientists must submit a detailed application including:

  1. A brief training proposal outlining the motivation and objectives of the visit (approximately one A4 page).
  2. A letter of endorsement from the home facility.
  3. A letter from the hosting facility confirming that they support the visit.

 

In line with the EU Gender Equality Strategy and RIANA’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, applications from underrepresented groups, including women and minorities, are strongly encouraged to ensure equitable access to opportunities and promote a balanced representation in the scientific community.

Applications will be reviewed twice a year. The cut-off date for the 1st call is 31.5.2025 at 23:59 (CET).

Selection Criteria

• Scientific quality of the proposed training program.
• Potential for publishing the collaborative results in a peer-reviewed scientific journal.
• Special emphasis will be placed on the expected training impact and the potential scientific output.

Selection Process

• The task leader will perform a preliminary ranking of applications.
• The final decision will be made by the RIANA Executive Board.
• Results will be provided no later than 2 months after the submission deadline.
