RIANA

Successfully Concluding the 2nd RIANA Training School

After four dynamic days of lectures, hands-on training, and vibrant scientific discussions, the 2nd RIANA school in nanoscience and nanotechnology has officially come to a close.

Hosted at HZDR in Dresden from June 1–4, this year’s edition focused on applications and theory of ion beam – matter interactions.

Beyond the intense learning, the event was a fantastic opportunity for mutual socializing, networking, and tackling many insightful questions from the next generation of researchers.

To wrap up the week, we awarded prizes for the best poster presentations. Selecting the winners was an incredibly tough challenge—every single participant put outstanding effort into showcasing their work, and the final decisions truly came down to the finest nuances.

🏆 Poster Award 1st place: Jan Gobec, Jožef Stefan Institute, for a poster:
“Damage‐induced deuterium retention in tungsten studied by RBS/NRA channeling and RBSADEC simulations”

🏆 Poster Award 2nd place: Mari-Lena Bolzer, Technical University of Munich, for a poster:
“Generation of Silicon W Color Centers with FIB”

🏆 Poster Award 3rd place: Sana S., LP3 laboratory, for a poster:
“Phonon Dynamics and Thermoelectric Transport in Buried Graphitic Channels in Diamond”

🏆 People’s Choice Award: Clara Isabel Garcia Garcia, Centro de Micro-Análisis de Materiales, for the poster:
“Enhancing Proton Therapy Efficacy Through Iron Oxide Nanoparticles”

A huge THANK YOU to all the attendees, speakers, organisers and host – Ion Beam Centre Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) who made this week such a remarkable success!
