Abstract: Cleanrooms are essential for high-yield fabrication of modern micro- and nanodevices. Depending on project scope, individual process maturity, and workflow design, fabrication timelines may vary considerably. This webinar aims to introduce the fundamentals of cleanroom technologies for new and prospective users, touching on subjects such as contamination control, ISO classifications, and access requirements, while also providing an overview of core fabrication processes such as thin film deposition, lithography, etching, and packaging. The session will describe major process categories, such as PVD and CVD, photolithography and direct write lithography, and wet and dry etching, with emphasis on their capabilities and limitations and how they can be integrated when designing an experiment. Participants will gain a better understanding of process interplay and how they can be incorporated into a practical fabrication workflow that yields functional devices.
