Our Junior Scientist Dr. Ryan Yang from the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) participated in the European FIB Network Workshop, which was held at Aix-Marseille University from 8 to 11 September 2026, and presented a poster about the RIANA project and the possibilities of using FIB with other techniques for sample preparation, characterisation and imaging.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics in focused ion beam science and technology: ion sources, optics and laser systems, simulation methods, 3D characterization and cryo life sciences, quantum materials, SIMS and tomography, novel ion sources, 3D nanofabrication and 2D materials, quantum technologies and single ion implantation, AI and machine learning, outreach, and micromechanics.
